Overall, I am pleased with the Dialgizmo. Dialgizmo was not advertised for use on more than one telephone at a time, so it does actually function properly as advertised. That got a little tiresome, so I am just using it on one telephone instrument. I was able to correct this by unplugging the Dialgizmo from the modem output port and immediately plugging it back in. I got my Dialgizmo to work that way, but once a day at least, it caused my phone line to give off a 'busy' or 'engaged' signal. Some Dialgizmo owners mention that Dialgizmo can be installed at the VoIP modem to serve all the extension phones connected to the modem. Dialgizmo certainly works on VoIP telephone service (like AT&T U-verse) as advertised, whereas Rototone cannot be used with VoIP service. It is easier to install and use than a Rototone device which installs inside the telephone's case. It is the only one I know for sure works with AT&T U verse. But, it does come all the way from Australia.
My only complaint is that this unit seems a bit high priced for what it is. This has nothing to do with the device it is because the new VOIP and digital phone systems are lower voltage than the old phone lines. So you have to wait a moment for the beep, but if you are too slow, the phone gives you the message "Your call cannot be completed as dialed." No sleeping while dialing! Your old phone may not ring as loudly as you recall. What I mean is that when you dial a digit, you need to wait a second-the Dialgizmo converts the dial tones to a beep, like a touch tone. When using the device to dial, timing is important. Just make sure that you have an AT&T jack that is actually set up for a phone! These days everyone uses a cell phone so the household phone jacks might not be connected, as I found out. The unit is very small and doesn't get in the way at all. No problem to install-just plug the cable from the phone into the device, and plug the device into the jack. I was able to use this to dial with my old Western Electric 500 from the 1950s and my old Princess probably from the 1960s.
